Welcome!
To our historic Grade II* Listed 16th century thatched, self-catering 2 bedroom barn conversion (sleeps up to 4) on our small Devon farm, peacefully located between Dartmoor & the north Cornwall coast. Its a real 'get away from it all' type of place, but ideally located and a great base to explore the West Country. Only 30 mins approx from North Cornwall coast & Dartmoor. Beams, wood burning stove, flagstone floors. Starry skies. Sorry, no pets, no smoking. 3 nights min stay (7 nights in peak season). Electric Car Charging point.
The accommodation has been entirely designed with visitor comfort and convenience in mind. Though an ancient building, all modern comforts are provided and the barn is furnished in a contemporary style. Outside, The Milking Parlour at Hole has its own private paved patio with table and chairs, sun-chairs and a gas bbq, and guests are very welcome to explore the 48 acre farm which has stunning views over towards Dartmoor. Donkeys, goat, cow, sheep, chickens, duck and George the goose all ready to greet you. Lovely freshly laid eggs every morning!
Accommodation:
Steps lead up to the entrance/dining conservatory, which is a lovely bright daylit room, popular with those just wishing to relax or simply read a good book. The conservatory leads into the open plan fully-fitted kitchen, which also has lots of space for storing your holiday paraphernalia. The kitchen includes a large range of storage units, which are made from English Oak, with granite worktops, a butler's sink, an Electrolux double electric oven with induction hob, and a Bosch dishwasher and fridge with freezer compartment. The farm's laundry room/boot room is housed in one of our ancient cruck-framed cart sheds just a short distance away, and there you will find your own washing machine and space for bicycles, muddy boots, wet jackets etc. The Milking Parlour forms part of the ancient barn, with The Threshing Barn, a 1 bedroom self-catering holiday unit and also available, adjacent. Together they can sleep up to 6 people. Sorry, no dogs or any pets allowed.
Also on the ground floor are the 2 bedrooms: – one with a 5ft king size bed, the other with twin beds and lastly there is a luxurious shower/wet room with a mozaic tiled floor and his and her limestone basins, wc, and shower. Both bedrooms have their own tv/dvd player.
A hand-made solid oak staircase leads upstairs to the galleried sitting room, which has a vaulted ceiling with old, exposed timbers. The central point of the room is a wood burning stove with fully openable doors to become an 'open fire', alongside an internet-ready TV and dvd player and Apple TV.
There is underfloor heating throughout with individual digital room controls. This gives warmth without the hot and cold spots from classic radiator central heating, and is understood to be healthier for the occupants. The whole building has a structured cabling system providing voice and data with wireless internet access - (please see our internet usage Terms & Conditions).
All linen and towels are provided, as are an iron and ironing board, hair dryer and logs for the wood burning stove.
All heating and electricity is included in the price.
Visitors are please requested not to smoke in The Milking Parlour at Hole, and pets are unfortunately not allowed as we have so many here to welcome you!
The accommodation may not be ideally suited for unsupervised toddling children as the solid oak staircase has open treads(with no stair/baby gate), hard slate flagstone floors and fittings with square corners.

I'm a great lover of the countryside - our precious natural landscapes and seascapes - and am passionate about enhancing and improving them. Also, I'm an animal lover, and have numerous here ready to greet you. I very much enjoy welcoming visitors to the farm and being able to give advice on places to visit.
